Simplified Brushless Wound Field Synchronous Machine Topology Based on a Three-Phase Rectifier

This paper proposes a novel simplified brushless wound field synchronous machine (BL-WFSM) topology based on an uncontrolled three-phase rectifier. The output of the rectifier is injected into common point star-connected armature winding. arrangement develops MMF consisting two components: fundamental MMF, which rotating in nature, and harmonic pulsating magnetic field, induces current specially designed winding rotor. induced rectified through full-bridge rectifier, excites main rotor to achieve operation produce torque while interacting with armature. proposed simple as it involves single does not require any complicated control strategy. Furthermore, this cost-effective solution compared conventional WFSM topologies since additional hardware component except for typical In addition, performance better than existing rectifier-based scheme terms efficiency, torque, ripple. BL-WFSM validated 2-D finite element analysis (FEA) using JMAG-Designer 19.1 obtain machine.
